On World Communion Sunday, Christians around the world gather at the Lord’s Table, celebrating our unity in Christ across nations, cultures, denominations, and communities. Observed on the first Sunday of October, this special day reminds us that although we may worship in different places and speak different languages, we are one body in Christ. World Communion Sunday began as a Presbyterian celebration in 1936 and has grown into a worldwide observance of Christian unity. At Topsail Presbyterian Church, we celebrate this day by remembering our connection to the worldwide church and by sharing in the sacrament of Communion. It is also traditionally a time for Presbyterians to receive the World Communion Offering, which supports ministries focused on reconciliation, justice, peacemaking, global witness, and building relationships among people around the world.
