|We are looking forward to growing our Youth adult volunteers list!
WAIT! Before you stop reading, this might not be what you think it is!
I'm sure a youth group adult volunteer might sound daunting or like a whole handful but I promise it's not as bad as it sounds!
What you'll do!
Firstly and most importantly the most basic job of a youth-adult volunteer is to be there. Literally, that is it. If you'd like to come and sit in the corner that is fine. So Why would we just want someone to come and sit? It is safe sanctuary Protocol to have two non-Cohabitating adults together with youth and children. This is a very serious safety issue and the most important job of a volunteer.
Youth love food!
It is no secret youth love food! So that is why every week we serve a meal to our students. This would be the second thing we would ask of a volunteer. Simply help set up, serve, and clean up food. We typically serve food from local restaurants like Subway or Chick-fil-A, so no cooking is involved Not so bad right!?
Lastly, maybe talking with the youth?
Yep! That is it! Other than being there, messing with a little bit of food, maybe just a little conversation with our youth. Taking interest in their interest, hearing about their day or what is happening at school. In some ways, this can be just as important as all the other things because if you choose, it gives you an avenue to pour wisdom, knowledge, and love into a youth's life, these friendships could be the very reason a youth might want to come back every week, and maybe even why you want to as well.
Are you up for the adventure!? If you are interested or have any questions please feel free to contact me. We typically meet every Tuesday and if we get enough volunteers you will only have to come once a month. We meet from 5:30 to 7 pm so as a volunteer we would ask you to be there by 5:15 pm till the students have left which is never normally more than a few minutes
past 7 pm.
Click here to see upcoming dates we need volunteers for. Please give me a call or an email and we will put you down for that evening!
