tpc Hearing Assistance Devices

One of the most common requests we’ve received from our congregation at TPC is to provide assistance to those who have difficulty hearing during AC services. We're excited to announce that the Digital Ministry Team has recently purchased and set up a new hearing assistance system to help with this need.

The system includes a transmitter connected directly to our sound bar and five wireless receivers. We've been testing the system over the past few weeks with very positive results.

Each receiver comes with its own earpiece. If you’re not comfortable using a shared earpiece, we will have disinfectant available. We will also provide individually packaged earbud headphones for anyone who would prefer to use their own and keep it for future services.

For intrusions on how to use the receivers see the diagram at the bottom of this page

Weather permitting Dickie Grace will be set up in front of the church on May 18th with the receivers and will be available to answer any questions you might have for the first service we use them.  After that we will have a basket on the first table to the right he you enter the sound room to collect the receivers and drop them off.

A couple of important notes:

  • 1.Please do not ask the sound room volunteers for assistance when picking up a receiver—they are typically busy ensuring everything is set up correctly for the service.
  • The only buttons on the receivers that need to be used are the power button and the volume buttons.  It is quite easy to confuse the volume button with the channel button.  If you accidentally change the channel button, you will no longer be able to listen to the service. In this case, change the channel back to 01 or turn the receiver off and on.  It’s been my experience hat after a few minutes of use it gets difficult to toggle between channels and volume, so I typically reboot and try again,

Feel free to reach out to Dickie Grace at amazng_grace@yahoo.com or 910-547-1789 if you have any questions or concerns. I would also be interested in getting a sense for how many people are interested in using them in case 5 is not enough.

Using the TPC Hearing Assistance Receivers

Topsail Presbyterian Church has five new hearing assistance receivers for attendees that have a difficult time hearing the service over the church speakers.

Below is a diagram of the receivers:

There are only two things to take care of with the receivers, turning them on and off, and adjusting the volume.
  1. To turn on and off, press the power button for several seconds
  2. To adjust the volume, follow the instructions below.
