Welcome! It is a real joy for us to meet newcomers and to tell you about all the good things God is doing in our church family. For over 148 years now it has been our mission to love God with everything. That means that no matter where you have come from and where you are on your spiritual journey, we want to come alongside to inspire, equip and encourage you to live out a life that will bring glory to God and be a blessing to the world.
If we had to categorize our worship style, we might use a word like traditional. In the same way, we would like to avoid describing it as stodgy. You will hear hymns and ancient liturgy that have sustained our faith for generations. Yet, in this worship setting, we welcome new friends, are quick to smile and laugh, and eager to hear God’s often subtle voice in a noisy world. We believe that God is glorified when worship is the faithful and joyous response of grateful people.
On January 10th we will worship at 8:15 in the Fellowship Hall and at 10:30 in the sanctuary.
8:15 is smaller and maybe a little more casual. We join in singing hymns all together and your children are welcome to stay in worship.
10:30 usually has a larger crowd. Our pastor and choir often wear robes. The reason for this is so that we can focus more on the act of worship and less on what outfit a person chose to wear on a particular day. At 10:30 worship, we are often led in music by our chancel choir. There is a children’s sermon during 10:30 worship. Children are welcome to stay in worship or they can go to Sunday school where they engage scripture in activities especially designed for children.
What should I wear? You can wear whatever attire you feel is the best expression of who you are. You will see people wearing coats and ties, skirts and dresses. You will also see people wearing jeans, shorts, sandals, boat shoes, flip - flops, and a whole range of styles. Friends, we truly can say Come as you are because that is just how God loves you.
